The Göteborg University Dialogue Systems Lab conducts research on the
theory and practice of dialogue systems. Its members are researchers
from the departments of Linguistics and Computer Science at Göteborg
University, and the lab is jointly funded by the Faculty of Arts
and the IT University. The lab has participated in several EU-funded
and national projects, and research results have had significant
impact on the field of dialogue systems research both in the form of
theoretical contributions (e.g. the Information State Update approach
to dialogue management, Issue-based dialogue management, and
type-theoretical approaches to semantics and syntax) and software
(e.g. the TrindiKit toolkit for dialogue systems R&D, the GoDiS
dialogue system, and the Grammatical Framework).
- 10/2 2008: The Dialogue lab will host the course "Dialogue systems" offered by the Language Technology Programme at GU in the spring of 2008.
- 2/1 2008: A new dialogue lab project, "Semantic Coordination in Dialogue", funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, starts today and will continue until the end of 2010! The lab currently has 5 funded projects.
- 19/9 2007: The Dialogue lab and DICO are featured on TV! On 22/9, Kunskapskanalen will broadcast a report about "Dialogue systems in the car". However, you can view it right now by clicking here!
- 18/6 2007: The DICO project now has an official webpage
- 1/1 2007: The Centre of Language Technology (CLT) has now been officially established. The dialogue lab is now a subgroup of CLT.
- 31/12 2006: The EU-funded TALK project ends. In this project, the Dialogue Lab has successfully developed several multimodal and multilingual dialogue system applications.
- 18/12 2006: The Dialog Lab is mentioned in an article in Computer Sweden!
- 1/9 2006: Vinnova-funded DICO project starts, in collaboration with Volvo, TeliaSonera and KTH. This 3-year project aims towards developing in-vehicla dialogue systems exhibiting advanced flexible dialogue capabilities.
- 1/6 2006: Mikael Sanding successfully defended his MA thesis "Exploring search-oriented Dialogue with GoDiS"
- 10/5 2006: GU Dialogue Systems lab are set to show several demos at Språkteknologidagen 2006 on the 19th of May!
- 10/5 2006: On May 4, GU Dialogue Systems lab hosted Dialogverkstad '06, an informal workshop for dialogue systems researchers in Sweden. Participants included TeliaSonera, KTH, and Linköping University. Thanks all who participated!
- 10/5 2006: Watch this space for upcoming information about Dialogue Lab Open House, which will be held in the autumn of 2006 (and not in May as previously announced)!
- Spring 2006: The Dialogue Lab welcomes two new PhD students: Björn Bringert (Computing Science) and Jessica Villing (Linguistics / GSLT)
- 17/9 2005: Stina Ericsson successfully defended her PhD thesis "Information Enriched Constituents in Dialogue"
- Spring 2005: Christina Nienhardt successfully defended her MA thesis "Dialogsystem i andraspråksinlärning - GoDiS-applikationer i protoyper för webbaserad CALL"
- Spring 2005: Anna Olsson and Jessica Villing successfully defended their joint MA thesis "Dico -- a dialogue system for a cell phone."
